Baked Pasta With Tomato Sauce
Baked pasta with tomato sauce is an entrée that can be served any night during the week, on holidays, or for times when you throw a party or have guests over for dinner. It is the perfect dish to make when you want to create a delicious and nutritious meal, but don't have the time to fuss. Baked pasta with tomato sauce is nutritious since pasta enriched with durum wheat semolina contains iron, thiamine, niacin, riboflavin and folic acid and tomato sauce contains essential vitamins A and C and calcium. Things You'll Need
- Oven
- Large pot
- ½ tbsp. vegetable oil
- 8 ounces spaghetti, or other type of pasta
- Colander
- 28-ounce can of crushed tomatoes
- Blender
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- Large saucepan
- 3 chopped garlic cloves
- Large spoon
- ½ tsp. dried oregano
- 2 large chopped fresh basil leaves
- Large casserole dish
- ¾ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Oven mitts
- 3 tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese

Set your oven to a temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil. When the water comes to a rolling boil, add the ½ tablespoon of vegetable oil to the pot, this will prevent the pasta from sticking, then put the pasta in the water and cook according to the directions on the box.

When the pasta has been cooked according to the specified time, pour the pasta into a colander to drain it. After it has been drained, put pasta back in the large pot and set the pot aside.

Open the can of crushed tomatoes and put them in the blender for one minute to puree the tomatoes. Set aside.

Put 2 tablespoons of olive oil in the saucepan and heat over a low flame for one minute, then add the chopped garlic and saute until the edges are lightly browned.

Pour the pureed tomatoes in the pan, turn the flame up to a medium setting, stir with your large spoon and let the tomatoes cook for 15 minutes.

When the sauce is done, remove the pan from the flame, add the oregano and chopped basil and stir with your large spoon to blend the ingredients.

Add 2/3 of the tomato sauce to the pasta in the pot and mix to combine.

Pour the pasta mixed with the tomato sauce into a large casserole dish, and spread with the spoon so it is evenly distributed.

Pour the remaining tomato sauce on top of the pasta, spreading it out with the spoon.

Spread ¾ cup of mozzarella cheese on top of the tomato sauce and pasta.

Place the casserole dish in the oven, and bake for 25 minutes.

Remove the baked pasta with tomato sauce from the oven, wearing oven mitts.

Let the baked pasta set at room temperature for 10 minutes.

Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese on the baked pasta before serving it.
