How to Convert Gallons to Ounces

Liquids, such as milk, can be measured in gallons and ounces.

U.S. gallons and fluid ounces measure the volume of a liquid, such as fuel, water or juice. Converting a liquid's volume in gallons to its volume in fluid ounces helps a person compare different volumes of liquids. For example, a store may sell a particular juice by the gallon and by the ounce. Converting gallons to fluid ounces allows a shopper to compare the volumes of the two drinks to determine how much to purchase. Make sure you convert gallons into fluid ounces, which is a measure of a liquid, instead of ounces in weight.

Instructions

1. Determine the number of gallons you want to convert to ounces.

2. Multiply the number of gallons by 128. For example, to convert 2 gallons to ounces, multiply 2 by 128. This equals 256.

3. Record the result in ounces. Two gallons equals 256 ounces.
