Instructions

1
Make a 12 inch by 12 inch template out of cardboard or another firm material, such as plastic.
-
2
Place the template under the center of each T-shirt you wish to use, making sure that you frame the design of the T-shirt within the 12 inch by 12 inch space.
-
-
3
Use scissors to cut a 12 inch by 12 inch swatch of each T-shirt by cutting around the outline of the template.
-
4
Arrange all of the T-shirt pieces in neat rows and columns, arranging them in the pattern that you want your quilt to be in.
-
5
Pin the T-shirts together in columns and sew each T-shirt block together, using your sewing machine, until you have completely sewn each T-shirt column. Place each column side by side.
-
6
Pin the columns together and then place the quilt over your bed to make sure that it is the right size. If it is too small, then you can add more columns. If it is too large, you can always leave some columns out.
-
7
Sew the columns together once you have decided that the quilt is the correct size. You should now have a nearly-completed T-shirt quilt.
-
8
Take a thin blanket to use as backing material to support the quilt and place it behind the T-shirts, making sure to line up all the edges correctly. Pin each side of the blanket to the T-shirt quilt.
-
9
Sew the T-shirt quilt to the backing blanket, using your sewing machine, to secure the T-shirts to the backing material and create your quilt.
