How to Create Twitter Hashtags
When you're tackling a popular topic on Twitter, good social networkers know that the hashtag can go a long way toward spreading your message. By creating a hashtag, you're placing your post into a category with all the other posts that contain the same hashtag -- thereby making it easy for someone interested in that topic to search for and find your posts and others all at once. An added bonus: the process takes very little time.
Instructions

-
1
Log into your Twitter account by entering your username and password on the home page.
-
2
Type in the message you'd like to send out in the "What's Happening" box. Do not hit "Enter" or "Return" just yet.
-
-
3
Enter in the hashtag. At the end (or beginning, it's up to you) of the message, type in a "#" symbol followed by the word you would like associated with your post, with no spaces in between. For example, if you're commenting about a tornado that happened in your area, type in "#tornado" -- then hit "Enter" when you've entered in all the information you'd like to include in your post.
-
4
Look down at your timeline to view your own tweet. Your hashtag should appear in a different color than the rest of the tweet.

Tips & Warnings
If you have extra characters left over after you've entered your message and hashtag, consider adding another hashtag. There's no limit to how many can fit in a post -- as long as the whole post is less than 140 characters.
