How to Unlock Firefox Tool Bars

Mozilla Firefox's toolbars, such as the menu bar, bookmark bar and navigation bar, are locked in place by default. However, that does not mean you cannot change their location. The default locked status simply prevents you from accidentally moving your toolbars when clicking buttons or menu items. To unlock the Firefox toolbars so you can move them, you need to select to customize your toolbars. This enables you to not only move them, but also to add buttons to them.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open "Mozilla Firefox."

    • 2

Click "View" from the top menu bar. If you cannot see the menu bar, press the "Alt" key.

    • 3

Hover your mouse over "Toolbars," and click "Customize" to open the "Customize Toolbar" window.

    • 4

Click and drag your toolbars to the locations you prefer. You can also click and drag buttons from the "Customize Toolbar" windows to the toolbars to add those functions. In addition, you can click "Add New Toolbar" at the bottom of the "Customize Toolbar" window to create an entirely new toolbar, which you can move to your desired location.
