Twitter lists let you create and follow groups of people. You can use private Twitter lists to organize your friends or keep track of your contacts, and Twitter public lists to group together tweets on similar topics. If you follow lists created by other people, you can easily unfollow. However, if you have created your own Twitter lists, the only way to unfollow is to delete them.

Instructions

  1. Unfollow Public List

    • 1

Navigate to Twitter's website and log in to your account. If you have multiple accounts on Twitter and want to unfollow lists on both, you will have to log in separately to each account.

    • 2

Click the "Lists" tab on your Twitter homepage, then select the list you follow from the drop-down menu.

    • 3

Click the "Unfollow" link, next to "Following" in the left column of the list window. If you change your mind and want to follow the list again, all you need to do is click the "Follow" button on the list page.

    Delete Own List

    • 4

Navigate to Twitter's website and log in to the account for which you want to delete a list.

    • 5

Click the "Lists" tab on your Twitter homepage, then click the list you want to delete under the "Lists by you" heading in the drop-down menu.

    • 6

Click the "View list page" link in the top-right corner above the list timeline.

    • 7

Click the "Delete" button in the left column of the list page. Confirm you really want to delete -- and subsequently unfollow -- your list when prompted by Twitter. When you delete a list you create, any other users who follow that list on Twitter will no longer receive updates in their timeline.
