Use your birth date to find out your lucky number.

Numerology -- the science of numbers -- has been used for centuries to determine lucky numbers. The most common methods involve using your birth date or your name and they only take a few minutes to work out. "Casting out nines" is a variation on finding a single-digit lucky number from a significant date. Many people refer to their lucky numbers as a self-help tool to help them make important life decisions.

Instructions

    • 1

Write down your date of birth in the numerical format, using the full four-digit year. For example if you were born on December 14, 1977 you should would write 1 2 1 4 1 9 7 7. Add up all the numbers; in this example 1+2+1+4+1+9+7+7. Write down the total, which in this case is 32. Add up the numbers again; here you add 3+2, which equals 5. This is known as your life path number or your lucky number.

    • 2

Write down a significant date (such as date of birth or the date of your wedding anniversary) in numerical format, using the full four-digit year. June 29, 1962 would be written as 6 2 9 1 9 6 2. Cross out any nines in the date. In this example, this leaves 6 2 1 6 2. Cross out any numbers that add to nine. 6+2+1 equals 9, so cross them out. This leaves 6 and 2. Add these remaining numbers together. The result is your lucky number, 8.

    • 3

Write down your full name. Refer to the Pythagorean Method to assign a number to each letter in your name (see Resources). Write the correct number under each letter in your name. Add up all the numbers to get your "sum" number. Add the numbers in this number together to get your lucky number, for example if your sum number is 24, add 2 and 4 to get 6.
