How to Find the Driver Version for Your Graphics Card
When you install a device on your computer, you need to also install the appropriate driver to bridge the gap between the computer's operating system and the device. Manufacturers usually provide an installation disk with the device that includes the appropriate drivers. They also occasionally offer updates to the drivers that correct various problematic issues. In order to ensure you graphics card functions as well as possible, you need to keep it updated with the latest driver. To know if you have the latest driver, check your graphic card's current driver.

Click the Windows "Start" button located in the bottom-left corner of the computer screen.

Right-click on the "My Computer" entry on the right side of the Windows menu.

Select "Properties" from the right-click menu. The System window opens.

Locate the Device Manager entry in the window and click it. The exact location varies depending on your version of Windows and how you have the appearance settings selected. The first place you should look is the top-left side of the window.

Click the arrow next to the "Sound, video and game controller" entry near the bottom of the Device Manager window to show a list of installed devices.

Right-click the entry for your graphics card and select "Properties."

Click the "Driver" tab in the new window. Information about the current driver -- including the version -- is listed near the top of the window.

Tips & Warnings
If you can't locate the Device Manager, click the "Start" button and type "Device Manager" into the search box. In the list of possible matches, click "Device Manager" to open it.
