How to Place an Ad in the LA Weekly
Southern Californians can place a classified advertisement in the local LA Weekly news periodical online. Ad posters can choose to sell an item, place a lost and found or personal ad or advertise a provided service. Ads are displayed through the free LA Weekly Online Classifieds Index powered by Backpage (laweekly.backpage.com). Options to display the ad in print within the published LA Weekly news periodical paper edition are also available for a fee. Some easy preparation and a few steps to follow can get the poster's ad on its way to publication.

Remain on the displayed page if the ad is targeted for Los Angeles buyers or customers. Choose a different demographic area by the town links listed on the right-hand side of the page if another locality is desired for ad placement. Locate the Post an Ad link in the center-upper portion of the chosen index page. Click on the Post an Ad link.

Choose the appropriate section for the subject of the ad which is being placed. Click on one of the 10 available. A Category page will pop up. Proceed to click on the appropriate category for the ad being placed. Click on the location that best fits the ad from the selections on the Step One: Write Ad page which is now displayed. Doing so brings up a template that allows the pasting in or writing of the ad text body and subject title. Only text and uploadable images are acceptable. Company or business display ads with graphics should be placed with a LA Weekly advertising representative to appear in the ads section.

Fill out all necessary information, upload any available photos of the item and request any fee-based upgrades at this time by checking the appropriate box in the Recommended Upgrades section on the page's lower portion. Here is where the choice should be made between free website-only online ad display or newsprint ad display which appears in the printed LA Weekly copy for a fee.
-
6
Check all entered information and when approved, click the Continue button in the lower left area of the screen. Payment and Confirmation information will now be entered if any upgrades were requested and the ad poster is given the opportunity to register a free account with LA Weekly if more classified ads are desired to be posted. Click Accept and a finish page should pop up stating that the ad will be posted once reviewed. Check for a confirmation email, which will be sent to the email address which was listed and wait for the LA Weekly representative to contact you if a newsprint ad was requested.
