How to Make Natural Kitchen Scrubbers
If you make your own kitchen cleaning products or even just purchase the natural variety without harsh chemical cleaners, it makes no sense to have a plastic sponge and scrubber in your kitchen. A kitchen without chemicals deserves natural cleaning tools as well as products. Take advantage of an easily-obtained natural scrubbing material and create your own kitchen scrubbers in a variety of shapes and sizes. Use natural loofah sponges, which are the insides of loofah gourds, dried and cleaned. These sponges will scrub the toughest baked-on gunk but will never scratch your nonstick cookware or other surfaces. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

1
Slice the loofah from the bottom to the top, cutting through from the outside edge to the center of the sponge. Open up the resulting sponge to see the middle portion.
-
2
Cut out the connecting pieces from the center of the loofah, leaving only the outer shell intact. You will have a sheet of loofah material that is about ½-inch thick.
-
-
3
Cut the sheet of loofah material into squares, circles or creative shapes like butterflies and flowers.
-
4
Poke a hole in the top of the cut loofah piece, about 1 inch from the edge. Thread an 8-inch piece of cotton string through the hole. Tie a square knot in the ends of the string to create a loop with which to hang the loofah over the faucet for drying.
