1
Gather all your equipment before you begin to cut. This includes a comb, the clippers, its attachments and an old toothbrush. Place it within arm's reach of your hair cutting area, on a flat surface.
-
2
Wash the boy's hair with a mild shampoo to remove any dirt or gel. Towel dry the hair to remove any excessive water and then use the blow dryer to completely dry the hair.

3
Comb the hair to remove any tangles. Drape the boy with a cape or a towel around his shoulders to prevent hair from falling down his shirt. Little boys can become really impatient and squirmy when they get itchy from the hair falling down their shirt.
-
4
Plug the clippers into the electrical outlet. Select the attachment you want to use to cut his hair and place it on the clippers. Most attachments have numbers on the front or the back of the attachment. The higher the number the longer the hair will be.

5
Turn on the clippers and begin cutting the boy's hair. Start at the nape area working from left to right. Slowly cut the hair with the clippers moving in an upward motion, stopping at the occipital bone. Turn off the clippers and use an old tooth brush to brush away any hair that may be lodged into the clipper attachment.
-
6
Cut both sides of the hair once the back is finished. Hold the ear down out of your way with your left hand and while you cut hair with your right hand. Use the same upward motion stopping before you reach the crown of the head.
-
7
Remove the hair from the crown area. Start at the hairline working from left to right. Cut the hair going back towards the occipital bone.
-
8
Use a blow dryer set on low to blow away any loose hair and to see if there are any long strands left behind. Use the clippers to remove any remaining long strands.
-
9
Shape up the nape area using trimmers. Follow the natural hair line and remove any long hairs from around the ears.
