Use Roman numerals to add stylish page numbers to a Microsoft Word document.

Roman numerals are letters that represent numbers used by the ancient Romans. Though counting in Roman numerals can be a challenge when you get to the higher numbers, typing them is as simple as typing a capital I, V, X, L, C, D or M. If you want to use them to number pages in a Microsoft Word document, all you need to do is remember to change the default selection when setting up your page numbers.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Insert" menu option at the top of the Word window to open the Insert tab.

    • 2

Click the "Page Number" icon in the Header and Footer group.

    • 3

Select where you want to place the page number by clicking one of the possible options.

    • 4

Click the icon for the Roman numeral design located near the bottom of the window. Click "OK" to finish.
