How to Insert an Image or Digital Photo Into an Email in Gmail
Sending digital photographs, funny pictures or other images instantly is one of the many conveniences we enjoy in the Internet age. Instead of making extra copies of photos, putting them in an envelope and mailing them off to someone, with a few well-placed clicks of the mouse, we can share imagery with anyone who has an email address. Inserting images into Google's mail program, Gmail, is quick and easy.

Open a Web browser window on your computer. Navigate to gmail.com and log in to your Gmail account.

Click Compose Mail" in the upper left corner of the Gmail home page. This opens a blank email page. Click "Rich Formatting" just above the message body to access rich formatting options.

Type the email address of your intended recipient into the "To" field at the top of the new email. Type the desired subject of your email into the "Subject" field.

Click on the small picture icon just above the message body field. The icon resembles two mountains against a blue sky. The "Add an Image" pop-up window will appear.

Click "Browse" in the "Add an Image" pop-up window to search for a file on your computer through a second pop-up window titled "Add a File." To attach an image from a website, move to Step 8.

Select the file from your desktop you wish to email, then click "Open" at the bottom of the second pop-up window, which will close.

Click "OK" in the "Add an Image" pop-up window, the window will close and the image will be inserted into the body of your email.

Click "Web Address (URL)" in the first pop-up window. Type or simply paste the Web address of the image you want to email into the "Image URL" field. Click "OK" at the bottom of the "Add an Image" pop-up window to insert the image in the body of your email.

Tips & Warnings
When choosing images from websites, right-click the image and choose "Copy Image Location" from the menu to get the URL of the image. Add the URL for insertion into the email.
