How to Import Outlook Email Accounts in Thunderbird

You can migrate email account settings from Outlook to Thunderbird.

Mozilla Thunderbird and Microsoft Outlook are two popular email applications for PC computers running the Windows operating system. Since both programs are so similar, you can exchange data between them without too much difficulty. For example, Thunderbird allows you to import all of your account settings from Outlook so that you can start using Thunderbird without needing to manually set up your email accounts.

Things You'll Need

• PC running Windows XP or later
• Mozilla Thunderbird 2 or later
• Microsoft Outlook 2003 or later

Instructions

1. Close the Microsoft Outlook program if it is currently open or running. Outlook cannot be open while you import accounts in Thunderbird.

2. Launch the Thunderbird application.

3. Go to "Tools" in the top menu bar and select "Import."

4. Choose the "Settings" radio button in the pop-up window and then click "Next."

5. Highlight "Outlook" from the list of programs and press "Next" again.

6. Click "Finish" when you receive confirmation that the import process was successfully. You can now begin using your email accounts from Outlook in Thunderbird.
