How to Take Raw Virgin Coconut Oil
Raw virgin coconut oil is a healthy saturated fat that is expressed from a freshly harvested coconut and then naturally separated from the milk through a wet milling process. The digestion benefits of coconut oil are good whether the oil is raw or slightly heated, and the simplest way to take raw coconut oil is to add it to your morning power smoothie.
Things You'll Need
- 1 tbsp. raw virgin coconut oil
- 1 banana
- 1 tsp. cocoa or carob powder
- 2 tsp. agave nectar
- 2 leaves of kale
- 1 handful of frozen berries
- 1/2 cup of pineapple juice
- Blender
- Large Cup

Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend on the lowest setting, gradually increasing the speed of the blade.

If the liquid in the blender is too thick and won't turn over, add a splash of juice or water until the mixture blends into a creamy drink.

Turn your blender to the highest speed to eliminate any bits of frozen fruit.

Pour into a large cup and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
For a sweeter smoothie, replace the agave nectar with raw honey. For a greener smoothie, replace the banana with extra kale and your favorite type of frozen berries.
Give your body time to adjust to the digestion properties of raw coconut oil. You can gradually increase the amount in your smoothie to 3 tbsp. per day. Increase intake in small increments and slow down if your stomach feels upset.
