How Can Students Use Biometric Devices?
Biometric devices are electronic security devices that recognize a physical characteristic of a person as their identification. These devices can scan your retina, your fingerprints, your palm or even recognize your face and voice. As long as you have your biometric profile in the system, using the associated machines is a fairly simple endeavor. For a student who uses biometric technology, all you need to do is present the necessary body part to be recognized.

1
Make sure that the school has your biometric information on file in the system. Contact your technology support department and ask them to check to be sure that your information is present. If not, then make an appointment to have your information recorded.

2
Present the body part to be scanned to the biometric scanner. If it's a fingerprint scanner then press the finger to be scanned firmly against the scanner's plate. For a retinal scanner look directly into the scanning light without blinking. For a hand print scanner just press your hand to the scanning plate so that it can be scanned.

Use the service you need to access. Biometric scanners can not only be used to gain computer access, but also to access a student account to make payments. Once your biometric information is recognized, simply use the service you need.
