How to Get a Grave Marker Instead of a Gravestone
Most of us will have to make funeral arrangements for our loved ones or ourselves one day. Gravestones are one of the more common ways to mark a grave, but a simple grave marker is just as practical. The decision to go with a grave marker instead of a gravestone might be a financial one or simply an issue of taste. Grave markers are a subtler way of marking a final resting place, and they are as easy to select as a gravestone.

Check with your cemetery to make sure there are no rules or regulations involving the kind of grave markers you are allowed to place. Some cemeteries prefer to have only granite or bronze markers. Some allow only flat, grass markers.

2
Select your preferred grave marker. You can usually buy them at the same place that sells gravestones. Markers can be granite, bronze, slanted or flat.

3
Customize your grave marker with a lasting message. This usually includes a name, dates lived and an epitaph. You can sometimes include a picture of the deceased.
