How to Transfer All Your Domain Names From Go Daddy

GoDaddy.com is one of the biggest domain name providers on the Web.

Transferring domain names correctly is crucial for preventing site down-time, or when your website doesn't load. Sites that experience lots of down-time appear unprofessional to users, so it should be avoided. There are a number of reasons to transfer domain names. These include changing ownership from one person to another or from a sole proprietor owner to a newly founded business. Transferring domains from GoDaddy.com, one of the biggest domain name providers on the Web, is a straight forward process that will ensure a speedy and safe transfer of domain names.

Instructions

1. Log into your GoDaddy.com account with your username and password.

2. Unlock your domain for transferring. You will need to click the "Domain Manager" button and select the name of the domain you would like to transfer. Click the "Locking" button and deselect the "Lock domains" button. Confirm this change by pressing the "OK" button twice.

3. Obtain an authorization code to allow for transferring of your domain name. To do this, from your "Account Manager" screen, click the "Domain Manager" button. Click the name of the domain name you are transferring. Scan this page for the section labeled "Domain Information" and click the "Send By Email" button on the "Authorization Code" line. Confirm this sending by pressing the "OK" button twice.

4. Check the email account that is the administrative contact on-file for the domain. Obtain your authorization code by opening the email from GoDaddy.com.

5. Input the domain transfer request at your new domain name registrar using your authorization code.

6. Wait one to five days to receive an email from GoDaddy.com notifying you of the final steps for transference of the domain name. This step will require you to log into your GoDaddy.com account with your username and password. Click on the "Domain Manager" section and from the "Domains" menu select the "Pending Transfers" button. Click the "Accept" button beside the domain name you are transferring and then press "OK" to confirm.

Tips & Warnings

• Remove the private registration of the domain you are trying to transfer to speed up the transferring process.

• GoDaddy.com will also send you an email when the transfer has been finalized.

• Domain transfers have a 60 day lockout limit. This means that a domain cannot be transferred within 60 days of the most recent transfer.
