The Fastest Way to Make Vanilla Extract
Vanilla extract can be used to add flavor to all sorts of desserts, baked goods and dishes. Vanilla extract is surprisingly quick and easy to make. In fact, the fastest way to make your own vanilla extract requires the least amount of equipment and ingredients. Split the vanilla beans lengthwise down the middle with your knife. Leave them connected right at the tip.

Pour 16 oz. of vodka into your jar.

Place the vanilla beans in the vodka and screw the lid of the jar on tightly.

Store the jar in a cool, dark place, like a closet, cabinet or cupboard. Let the jar sit there for eight weeks. You can use your extract after three weeks if you want, but it will not be as potent. The longer you wait, the more the vodka will evaporate, and the more potent your extract will be.

Tips & Warnings
You don't have to use expensive vodka to make your extract, but you can experiment with different qualities of vodka to compare the results. Try adding small amounts of other liquors to your mix, such as rum and Kahlua, to add extra flavor to your extract.
