How to Make Frog Traps
A frog trap is designed to catch frogs and keep them trapped until you can remove them from the box at a later date. This box is useful for finding frogs to eat in regions where frogs are edible, or for catching frogs for study or simply for fun. This sturdy box should last for several months or even years, providing the opportunity to catch hundreds of frogs of different sizes and types.

1
Cut an 18-inch by 18-inch square from the one-inch plywood using a table saw. Cut eight 1 1/2-inch wide by 18-inch long strips from the plywood.
-
2
Screw four strips to each corner of the square piece. Screw the other four strips to the top of the corner pieces to make a square frame with a solid bottom.

3
Cut mesh to fit over the sides and top of the box. Staple the mesh to the corner pieces about half way up the box. Bend the rest of the mesh toward the inside of the box so that the frogs can jump in, but cannot jump back out. Staple the mesh to the top of the box along one side. Tie the other corners of the mesh to the sides of the box with thick cord so you can open the box and remove the frogs.

4
Make a 4-inch thick platform to surround the mesh box. Cut the corners of each board into a "L" shape so that they fit together like one solid piece around the corners. Screw the corners of the platform together, then screw the platform to the middle of the mesh box.
-
5
Place the trap in a stream, submerged to the platform. Attach minnows or insect bait to the frame of the box with fishing line to entice the frogs to enter the box. Tie the box to a stake to prevent it from floating away.
