An International Coach Federation, or ICF, accredited training program, the certified life coach training is a six-month self-study program that teaches 11 core competencies and ethical standards. The program is a prerequisite to the master spirit life coaching program.

Membership costs vary but typically run between $100 and $200 a year as of 2011.
