How to Celebrate Teacher of the Year
The Teacher of the Year Award provides an ideal opportunity to honor an accomplished educator, inspire other teachers in your school or school district, and raise awareness about the importance of teachers. There are a variety of ways to honor a Teacher of the Year. With the participation of school administrators, students, other teachers, and members of the community, you can celebrate Teacher of the Year in a memorable way.

Contact members of the community to ask for donations to honor the Teacher of the Year. Donations could include school supplies and gift certificates.

Hold an awards ceremony at a special morning assembly or luncheon during the school day to announce the Teacher of the Year. Order decorations, flowers and gift basket and a framed certificate for the honoree. Invite members of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), parents, teachers, administrative members of the community, and other members of the community, such as businesses and community groups. Invite the media to cover the event.

Publish the news in the school district's publications and on its website. Include a picture of the Teacher of the Year and information about what makes him a special teacher.

Place banners announcing the Teacher of the Year on the school bulletin board for a week. During the same week, leave a congratulatory message to the winning teacher on the message sign in front of your school.

Have students of the teacher arrange a surprise class party where they present gifts to their teacher. Examples of gifts include a giant greeting card signed by all the students, a class song about the Teacher of the Year recipient, or a video of the students saying what they appreciate most about their teacher.
