How to Use Fiber Optic Cable
Fiber optic cables in home audio applications are established as high-quality audio delivery systems. Potentially inexpensive and common on almost all home audio and home theater components, using and installing fiber optic cables is straightforward. Following best practices with fiber optic cables will result in reliable, clear and error-free audio delivery.

Tips & Warnings
Most optical ports on receivers and processors are labeled for function. Thus, inserting an optical cable into a port labeled "Sat" is pre-assigned for a satellite or digital cable box.
Toslink and optical are one and the same. Toslink stands for "Toshiba Link," the main designer of the connector type.
If the equipment has hinged doors covering its optical ports, make sure the cables are inserted correctly. These small delicate doors are easily broken off, preventing reliable insertion of the cable.
