A bodyguard's work requires total commitment and a readiness to sacrifice your health or even life to save your client. Get military training. A background in the armed forces helps in the bodyguard profession. The military training includes threat detection and assessments, tactical planning and operations, physical intervention techniques and first aid.

Keep your mind sharp and body strong. In addition to gym workouts, do some martial arts, such as karate, wrestling or boxing. Train in firearms use. Read books on military tactics and strategy, as well as books on psychology, basic medicine and literature intended for bodyguards.

Enroll in a bodyguard training school. Formal training will not only allow you to practice the skills a bodyguard needs - such as hand-to-hand combat - but will also improve your chances of finding employment at a security firm working with celebrities.

Send your resume to security agencies specializing in guarding celebrities. In your resume, clearly outline your professional qualifications and list your skills. Mention any relevant achievements you have.

Commit yourself to the job. Be prepared to work overtime. Go the extra mile to ensure personal security of your client. Monitor any potential threats to the client's security and take appropriate measures to protect the client. Be available at short notice.
