How to Arrange Try-Its Badges

How to Arrange Try-Its Badges thumbnail
You can make a sash look more organized by sewing on Try-Its correctly.

If you have a child in a Brownie Girl Scout troop, she will probably earn Try-It badges for accomplishing a series of projects and tasks. In order to display the Try-Its, you will need to sew them onto your child's sash. However, because the Try-Its are triangular, they can take up a lot of space on the sash unless you sew them on in a specific way. When the badges are sew on properly, the sash will look well-organized.

Instructions

    • 1

Lat the sash out flat on a table top. This will allow you to see exactly where you are pinning and sewing on the Try-It badges.

    • 2

Place one of the Try-It badges 2 to 3 inches underneath the troop numbers, arranging the badge so that one of the flat edges of the triangle badge is facing up. Pin the badge in place with a straight pin.

    • 3

Thread your needle with brown thread and sew around the perimeter of the badge in the brown border.

    • 4

Place a second Try-It badge next to the first one, arranging one of the flat edges so that it faces down. This will allow one of the triangle points to face up and will cause the second badge to fit right next to the first badge. Pin the second badge in place and sew around the edge with brown thread as before.

Repeat this process until you have a row of four Try-Its. Once the first row is complete, both the top and bottom edges will be flat. This will allow you to sew a second, third and fourth row of Try-It badges in the same manner as before.
