How to Waterproof a Wood Stud Coat
Waterproofing a wood stud coat preserves the life span of the coat. It also waterproofs the wood stud coat to prevent rain damage. According to Harvard University, "eventually, through washing and wear, the DWR finish on a jacket may rub off." Reapplying durable water repellent or DWR can restore the waterproof properties of the wood stud coat. Applying beeswax onto the wood studs of the coat waterproofs the wood as well. Waterproofing a Coat

Launder or dry clean the wood stud coat. The wood stud coat must be clean. It helps the absorption of the durable water repellent spray.

Spray the coat with DWR spray. Completely cover all areas of the outside of the coat.

Apply a second coat of DWR spray. Hang the coat to air dry for four hours.

Mix 2 ozs. of beeswax with1 tbsp. of turpentine.

Apply the waterproof solution to a cloth. Place a thin layer of solution on the cloth.

Rub the solution in a circular motion over the wood studs. The solution will dry on contact.
