A chiming clock can add old-fashioned elegance to your home.

A chiming clock is a sonorous and old-fashioned way to display the time in your home. Chiming clocks come in all shapes and sizes and they generally signal each hour with a clang, ding or chime. Some chiming clocks even play a few bars of a song or simple tune. If your chiming clock is not emitting the correct number of chimes with a given hour, it's time to reset your clock. Resetting your clock will take a minute and fix the issue completely.

Step 1

Place one forefinger gently on the minute hand and push it lightly over to the number 12. Your clock will now naturally emit a series of chimes. Count how many chimes it emits and remember this number.

Step 2

Move the hour hand very gently to this number on the clock face. For example, if you hear five bongs, you need to move the hour hand to the number five on the clock.

Step 3

Push the minute hand around the clock until the clock displays the actual time. The clock will bong periodically as you do this and that's good. For example, if it's 3:53, move the minute hand until you get to that exact time.

Step 4

Note to yourself the next time the clock should strike and pay attention for when that hour comes. Your clock will strike the correct hour now.
