How to Customize a Facebook Friend List

Customize a friends list for organization.

A Facebook friends list organizes your friends into categories, so you can interact with all the friends in a certain group at a time or filter who sees what on your profile. For instance, if you want to tell all of your old high school friends about a reunion, creating a high school friends list would allow you to send messages to them all at the same time. Creating a friends list only takes a moment or two, but it allows you to save time when interacting on Facebook.

Instructions

1. Enter your Facebook profile. Click "Friends," which is located underneath your profile picture on your homepage or profile. Then, select "Edit Friends."

2. Click "Create a List" at the top of the Edit Friends interface. This will open a new window. Type a name for your list of friends, like "Family Members" or "Work Friends." Add friends by clicking on their profile pictures so that a check mark appears. Once you've added the friends you want, click "Create List."

3. Add new friends to an existing list by entering the Friends interface and choosing the list name from the left panel on your screen. You can then add new friends by typing their name into the search bar at the top of the list, or by clicking "Add Multiple" and checking the friends that you'd like to add.

4. Remove friends from a certain list by clicking on the List name while in the Friends interface. Then, click the small "x" on the right side of each friend that you'd like to remove from the list. This person will no longer be included when you send a message to an entire list.

5. Delete your list by clicking on the list name on the left side panel and then clicking "Delete List" at the bottom of the list page. You'll receive a prompt that asks whether you're sure you want to delete. Click "Confirm." Deleting a friends list won't delete your friends from your Facebook, it will only delete the actual list from your Friends menu.
