How to Use an NTP Server to Set the Time in Windows

The Network Time Protocol (NTP) was developed in the late 1970s as a way for UNIX-based TCP/IP networks to remain synchronized with each other. Today, official NTP servers are run by many different organizations, including the National Institute of Standards and Technology. NTP is commonly used by home users as a method of keeping the clocks on their computers up to date. Configuring Microsoft Windows to connect to an NTP server allows you to set the time automatically.
