How to Lay Stick Tile & Vinyl
Vinyl self-stick tiles aren't something you want to showcase in your kitchen, front foyer or other area where guests spend time. However, for laundry rooms, second bathrooms, kids' playrooms, closets and anywhere else you just need a durable, inexpensive floor that's quick and easy to lay, this is a good choice. As with all tile flooring, vinyl self-stick requires a firm, flat underlayment. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Use your chalk snapline to lay out two intersecting lines, dividing the floor into four squares that meet at the middle. Lay a carpenter's square at the intersection of the lines to ensure they are perpendicular to each other.
-
2
Remove the paper from the back of your first tile. Set the tile onto the surface of the floor at the intersection of the two lines so it's sitting in one of the four corners with the two lines bordering it.

-
3
Press the tile firmly to the floor with both hands.
-
4
Set additional tiles in the same manner, pressing the edge of each new tile against the edge of the previous tile. Work from the middle of the floor to the edges, in a grid pattern, using the lines as your guide.
-
5
Cut the tiles for the edges of the floor by setting your square on top of each tile, running your utility knife alongside it to square it, and snapping it in half. Set the tiles with the cut sides toward the walls.
