How to Rename Disk Drives
Windows 7 uses drive letters to help distinguish one hard drive from another. Sometimes drive letters can change, as is the case with removable USB devices, which may be connected in a different order at different times. Users sometimes find letter-based naming schemes terse and unfriendly. In addition to a drive letter, you can attach or change a "friendly name" to a disk drive by using the Windows rename feature.
