How to Delete iCal Alarms

ICal is one of the many applications that comes with the Mac OS X operating system, allowing you to organize your schedule and keep track of appointments. ICal has several alarm features, including messages that appear on your screen, emails and opening specific files. ICal also lets you set alarms to remind you in advance before an actual event and recurring alarms for things you need to remember on a regular basis. As alarms are set individually for specific or recurring events, you must delete alarms in iCal separately.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the iCal icon in your Dock to open iCal. If you do not have iCal in your Dock, you can also access it through your "Applications" folder.

    • 2

Double-click the event that has the alarm you want to delete to bring up the options window and click the "Edit" button.

    • 3

Click the tab under the "Alarm" heading and select "None." If you are deleting a recurring alarm, and you want to delete it permanently, click the "All future events" button. If you want to delete only this alarm but keep future alarms for the recurring event, click the "Only this event button." If it is not a recurring event, iCal will not give you this option.

    • 4

Click the "Done" button, to save your changes. You must delete alarms for different events individually, with the exception of recurring events.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you only want to be reminded once for a recurring event, use the single alarm function.
