How to Change the Resolution of a Screenshot in Paint

After you take a screen shot of your desktop or other screen on your Microsoft Windows operating system, you then need to paste the screen shot into a photo editing program. Microsoft Paint, which comes standard with all Windows-based computers, is a common choice. By changing number of pixels in a screen shot in Paint, you also can change the resolution of the image.

      Click "Start" and type "paint" into the "Start Search" box and press "Enter."

      Press "Ctrl" and "V" to paste your screen shot into the open Paint file window.

      Click "Resize," which is in the "Image" group of the "Home" tab.

      Click the "Maintain aspect ratio" box in the "Resize and Skew" dialog box.

      Click the "Pixels" radio button and type the new width (in pixels) of the image in the "Horizontal" box and type the new height (in pixels) in the "Vertical" box.

      Click the "Paint" menu at the top of the page and select "Save as."
