The durability and larger size of Zip disks make them ideal for storing sensitive information, such as photos. Zip disks are available with 100 MB, 250 MB or 750 MB of storage capacity; average-quality photos take up between 1 MB and 3 MB of space, depending on your camera settings. Zip disks can be used as the primary storage device for your photos or as a backup storage device.

Instructions

      Turn on the computer and insert the Zip disk into the Zip disk drive.

      Click the "Start" icon in the lower-left corner of the home screen if you are using a Windows computer and then click "Computer." The Zip disk is listed under "Devices with Removable Storage." If you are using a Mac, the Zip disk appears as an icon on your home screen immediately after inserting it.

      Double-click the icon for the Zip disk. A folder will open on the screen displaying the contents of the Zip disk.

      Navigate to the folder containing the photos you want to copy to the Zip disk.

      Select the photos you want to copy. Click one of the highlighted files and hold your left mouse button down if you are using a Windows machine; click one of the highlighted files and hold the single mouse button down if you are using a Mac.

      Drag the files above an open area in the Zip disk folder and release the mouse button. A dialog box will appear on the screen displaying the status of the transfer. When the dialog box disappears, the files have been successfully copied to the Zip disk.

      Press the "Eject" button on the Zip disk drive to eject the Zip disk.
