How to Make a Curtain for a Stage Out of a Sheet

When it comes to creating curtains for a stage, the idea is to create a functional set of curtains at a low cost. Extensive amounts of fabric for sewing can be extremely expensive, which is why some individuals choose to create curtains out of bed sheets. Creating curtains for a stage out of a sheet is a simple task that any individual with minimal sewing skills can complete in a short amount of time.

Things You'll Need

• Bed sheet
• Seam pick
• Scissors

Instructions

1. Lay the bed sheet out on a flat surface. Cut off the curtain tags using a pair of scissors. Avoid ripping off the tags, as this can result in ripping the seam.

2. Locate the top of the bed sheet. Bed sheets have a 2-inch to 4-inch sleeve of fabric that runs along the top edge of the sheet.

3. Pull the seems out of the sides of the sleeve along the top of the sheet with a seam pick. This will rip the seams out, creating an open sleeve.

4. Cut off ripped thread with scissors to create a clean appearance.

5. Slide the bed sheet onto a curtain rod by inserting the rod into the sleeve. Repeat this process using as many bed sheets as you need to fully curtain the entire length of the stage.

Tips & Warnings

• Use flat sheets in darker colors. Thicker fabric sheets make an outstanding selection, as they block light from showing through.
