How to Make Your Own Ice Melter

Melt the ice on your vehicle.

Deicer, or Ice Melter is a product designed to quickly melt the ice on vehicle windows and other surfaces. It can be very handy on hurried mornings when your automobile won't warm up fast enough to melt the ice on the windows. It can be bought in stores, but it's cheap and easy to make at home as well.

Things You'll Need

• Large metal bowl
• Rubbing alcohol
• Water
• Antifreeze
• Plastic funnel
• Spray bottle

Instructions

Mixing Water Alcohol Solution

1. Clean a large metal bowl.

2. Pour rubbing alcohol into the bowl.

3. Add an equal amount of water to the bowl.

Mixing the Deicer

1. Using a measuring cup, measure the amount of solution you created. The lines on the side of your measuring cup will tell you this information.

2. Add 1/9 the volume of the water/alcohol solution to the solution in antifreeze.

3. Funnel the new mixture into a spray bottle.

4. Spray the mixture on ice to melt.
