How to Turn Off Sleep Mode on an Iomega Prestige
The Iomega Prestige is an external hard drive that comes in 0.5TB, 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB models. It offers a sleep mode, where the drive shuts itself down after not being in use for an extended period of time. To use it again, you must give it a few seconds to "wake up." Sleep mode can be turned off.

Unplug the hard drive from the computer.

Turn it around to find the small switch on the back. It has three settings: "Off," "On" and "Auto." "Auto" is the default selection, which means the drive goes into sleep mode when not in use.

Flip the switch to "On." Now the drive will remain on whenever plugged into the computer.
