How to Add a Photo to TypePad Sidebar

TypePad is online blogging software developed and managed by Say Media. TypePad is similar to other blogging software, such as Wordpress and DasBlog, but TypePad is a premium service that requires a subscription. Like most blogging tools, TypePad includes a website sidebar. You can add a number of widgets, also called modules, to this sidebar. If you want to dress up your sidebar by adding an image, you can do so using basic HTML.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your website's TypePad administration panel. Click on "Library" then "File Manager."

    • 2

Click on "Browse." Select the photo you want to upload and add to the TypePad sidebar. Click "Open" to upload the photo. Right-click on the photo and select "Open in New Tab" or "Open in New Window." Copy the image's web address, including the "http" part.

    • 3

Click on "Blogs" then "Design." Click on "Organize Content." Click "Add New Module."

    • 4

Copy and paste the HTML code "<a href="http://www.typepad.com"><img src="http://example.typepad.com/image.jpg" border="0" /></a> into the HTML block. Replace both URLs with the URL of your image. Doing it this way brings the person to the image when he clicks on it. If you want to link the image to a different URL, replace the first URL with the one you want to link to.

    • 5

Paste the HTML code "<img src="http://example.typepad.com/image.jpg" border="0" />" into the block if you do not want the image to link to anything. Make sure to replace the URL with the URL of your image.

    • 6

Click "Save" to save the module with the image. The module appears on your sidebar. Click on it and drag it to the location on the sidebar you want to place it in, and then click "Update" to save the changes in your administration panel.
