How to Get Your Facebook Web Address

How to Get Your Facebook Web Address thumbnail
Setting up a Facebook web address is very easy to accomplish.

On June 13, 2009 Facebook launched a new service that allows users to create a short URL that links directly to a Facebook page. This replaces the previous long string of numbers assigned to each page, which was difficult to remember and type. Obtaining a custom web address for your Facebook page is not difficult, and requires only a few minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Sign up for a Facebook account if you do not already have one.

    • 2

      Go to www.facebook.com/username.

    • 3

Select the page that you want to assign a username to. This step is only applicable if you have multiple pages.

    • 4

Enter the username that you want to use and click "Check Availability." It does not have to be the same username that you use to access your account.

    • 5

Check the availability of a new username if the one you want is taken. Repeat this process until you find one that is available.

    • 6

Click "Confirm" to activate your vanity address. It will appear as http://www.facebook.com/the_name_you_select.

Tips & Warnings

  • Once you have set up your Facebook web address, you cannot change it. Make sure you pick a name that you are happy with.
