      Select a high-capacity washing machine at your local laundry facility. A side-loading machine is more preferable for this job.

      Insert your down comforter into the washing machine and select the warm-water option. Also select the "delicates" wash option.

      Start the washing cycle and allow the machine to fill with water. Add one load's worth of the laundry detergent to the machine.

      Remove the comforter from the washing machine when the cycle is finished and place it into a dryer. Set the dryer to "tumble dry" and the temperature to "low."
