How to Use Reason As a Sound Module

Propellerhead Reason, an advanced music creation tool, allows users to produce, mix, edit and sequence computer music. If you prefer to sequence your music in another program, such as Pro Tools, then you can use Reason as a sound module in those programs. Reason can be used with a selection of other programs by utilizing ReWire, which virtually connects applications so that you can use them in a variety of ways. Some applications have specific processes, but the process generally is the same.

Instructions

    • 1

Click "Start," and open the application you want to link with Reason.

    • 2

Click "Start," and type "Reason." Press "Enter" when the program link appears.

    • 3

Wait a few seconds until Reason switches to ReWire Slave Mode, which means Reason is linked to sequence into the other program.

    • 4

Switch to your other applications. Change the sound preferences so that the input is set to "Reason." Some programs automatically change sound preferences, but others require you to manually change the preferences.
