How to Make Liquid Corn Starch

Turning powdered corn starch into liquid corn starch is very simple and can be completed in a matter of minutes. Liquid corn starch has many uses, including craft projects, household cleaning, facials and, of course, starching laundry. You can even add less water and food coloring to corn starch to create slime (a gooey, usually green substance kids love to play with). While liquid corn starch can be purchased in most grocery stores, making it at home saves you money. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Pour 2 cups of cold water into a bowl. The corn starch will react to warm or hot water, swelling in size, becoming more of a paste than a liquid.

    • 2

Add 1 tbsp. of corn starch directly to the water.

    • 3

Whisk the cold water and powdered corn starch together until smooth and evenly blended. The color of the mixture will resemble milk.

    • 4

Use the mixture immediately or pour into a container with a lid for later use. If using the liquid corn starch for laundry purposes, pouring the liquid corn starch into a squirt bottle works well.
