Using Photoshop to change or edit the background in an image, you can alter reality to suit your whims. Change the sky from blue to red. Change your kitchen wallpaper from flowers to plaid. Your imagination is the only limit.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Start Photoshop. Open the picture you want to change.
Step2
Use one of the selection tools ' Freehand or Selection ' to outline the area to be colored.
Step3
Locate the color palette at the bottom of the toolbar.
Step4
Click on the top square and select a new color from the palette. Click OK.
Step5
Click the Paint Bucket icon.
Step6
Choose a fill pattern from the Paint Bucket Options menu.
Step7
Place the cursor over the selected area and click once to fill the selection with the color and pattern you chose.
Step8
If the results aren't what you wanted, select Undo from the Edit menu to undo the last change, then try again.
Step9
Choose Save As from the File menu to save your changes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Before editing a picture, save the file under a different name by selecting Save As from the File menu. This allows you to edit the picture without worrying about the original.
  • The Selection tool selects specific shapes, such as rectangles or circles, whereas the Freehand tool (which looks like a lasso) lets you draw the selection yourself.
