How to Convert eFax to PDFs

You can send faxes using your computer, an Internet connection and the eFax service. This commercial application allows users worldwide to receive and send faxes without actually having to own a fax machine. When receiving a fax through eFax, the service automatically emails it to your standard email account. You can then view the fax by using a program called eFax Messenger. With eFax Messenger's export tool, you can convert a fax in the proprietary EFX format to a standard PDF file.

Instructions

    • 1

Install eFax Messenger by downloading it from eFax's website (see Resources for a link).

    • 2

Click on the fax in your email inbox. This automatically launches the eFax Messenger application.

    • 3

Select "Fax Edit Mode" from the menu at the top of the screen instead of "File View Mode."

    • 4

Click on the File menu at the top of the screen, and select the Export function.

    • 5

Select "PDF files (*.pdf)" in the "Save as type" menu of the Export window.

    • 6

Choose a name for the file and navigate to the folder where you wish to save the file. Confirm your selection by clicking on "OK." Your file is now saved in the PDF format.

Tips & Warnings

  • The PDF export option is not available to users of the free eFax service. You need either an eFax Plus or eFax Pro subscription to export your faxes to the PDF format.
