1
Sort similar fleece materials and wash them together. Turn garments inside out before washing. This reduces pilling and wear on the polar fleece fabric.
-
2
Turn on the washing machine and set the water temperature to warm, or check the garment care tag for other instructions. Most fleece blankets, or non-garment fleece items, require warm-water laundering.

3
Add as much gentle laundry detergent as is specified on the detergent label for your load size to the rising water. Add the fleece pieces to the washing machine. Adding the detergent to the water before adding clothing disperses the detergent more evenly.
-
4
Remove the wet fleece from the washing machine when the wash cycle is complete, and place the polar fleece into the dryer on low heat to finish the laundering process. The fluff setting or air-drying also preserves the life of the fleece.
