How to Kill Clover With Spray

Unless your clover has four leaves, you likely want to kill it.

Unless you happen to find a four-leaf clover hiding in your yard, the clover you do have remains an unwelcome sight if you want a healthy yard. Clover is one of the most common weeds in a yard, so knowing how to deal with it remains important for creating a weed-free environment. Fortunately, chemical herbicides have come a long way in targeting weeds.

Things You'll Need

• Mower
• Herbicide
• Water
• Pressure sprayer
• Grass seed

Instructions

1. Mow over the clover-infected grass with your lawnmower. The ideal height of the grass is 2 to 3 inches.

2. Pour the herbicide and water into a pressurized sprayer, filling with appropriate amounts as described on the herbicide container. Pressurize the sprayer by pumping the handle. Use a herbicide that has Dicamba or MCPP, as these are best for clover, according to the website Blades Lawn Care.

3. Spray the area infected with clover on a day when rain is not forecast. You may need to make several dosages over several days to completely eradicate the clover.

4. Plant grass seed over the area where the clover died. This will fill in dead patches and prevent clover from repopulating the area.
