How to Make Access 2003 Run Faster
Developing software is often a tedious and time-consuming process, requiring not only your patience but a powerful computer. Microsoft Access 2003 is a program designed to give you the ability to develop software on your home computer. However, when running the program you may notice a lag time between making commands and the program performing them. This slows down the entire creation process. Correcting this improves the performance of your software and reduces the time it takes to design your program.

1
Close out other programs running on your computer. This ranges from an Internet browser, instant messenger to a word processor. Other programs reduce the amount of RAM allotted for Microsoft Access 2003, slowing the software down. Closing out the additional titles helps improve the speed of the program.
-
2
Restart your computer. It is possible either the operating system or Microsoft Access 2003 just didn't boot and load properly. If the program functioned correctly on a previous boot, you know this is the issue with the software.
-
-
3
Upgrade the amount of random access memory you are running on the computer. Microsoft Office and Microsoft Access 2003 need at least 128 MB of RAM to run smoothly. Anything less and the computer is not going to process the software accurately.
-
4
Delete unwanted files and programs from the computer hard drive. Microsoft Access 2003 needs at least 400 MB of space. If your hard drive does not have this amount available, it is necessary to free up space.
