How to Disable Autocomplete in Apple Safari

Apple Safari's autocomplete feature, known as AutoFill, helps you to fill in data and user information in online forms faster. AutoFill uses the data from your Address Book card, previously entered user names, passwords and data from other forms you fill out to guess what should go into an online form. While this feature can be useful, it is also a big potential security and privacy risk. You have the option of disabling the autocomplete feature in the Safari Preferences.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Safari" menu, and scroll to "Preferences."

    • 2

      Select "AutoFill."

    • 3

Deselect the check boxes next to "Using info from my Address Book card," "User names and passwords" and "Other forms." This will disable all the sources AutoFill uses to complete forms, so Safari will not have any data to put into a form automatically.
