How to Convert KM/LTR to MPG
Miles per gallon (mpg) is the standard measure of fuel efficiency for gasoline vehicles in the United States. A car with a higher mpg travels farther on a gallon of gas and has lower fuel costs than one with a lower mpg. The United States requires all new cars and light-duty trucks sold in the country to display fuel economy information, such as city and highway mpg, on a window sticker label. You can convert kilometers per liter, which is used to measure a vehicle's fuel economy in other countries, into mpg to compare a vehicle's fuel economy with other American vehicles.

1
Input the number of kilometers per liter into the formula "(kilometers/liter) x (1 mile/1.609 kilometers)" to convert to miles per liter. For example, if a vehicle gets 10 kilometers/liter, the formula is "(10 kilometers/liter) x (1 mile/1.609 kilometers)."
-
2
Divide 10 by 1.609, which equals 6.215. Kilometers in the numerator and denominator cancel each other out, leaving 6.215 miles/liter.

3
Input 6.215 miles per liter into the formula "(miles/liter) x (3.785 liters/U.S. gallon)" to convert to miles per gallon. The formula is "(6.215 miles/liter) x (3.785 liters/U.S. gallon)."
-
4
Multiply 6.215 by 3.785, which equals 23.524. Liters in the numerator and denominator cancel each other out, leaving 23.524 miles per gallon.
