Making your own homemade beauty products lets you create products using completely natural ingredients you may already have in your home. One benefit of homemade beauty products is that they do not contain the harsh or irritating chemicals often used in commercial products. Whether you want beauty products for your face, skin or hair, there is a variety of different cosmetics you can make on your own. Instructions

  1. Chamomile Shampoo

      Steep four organic chamomile tea bags or a 1/2 cup of fresh chamomile flowers in about 2 cups of boiling water in a large pot for 10 to 20 minutes.

      Remove the tea bags or chamomile flowers from the pot and add 4 tbsp. of pure soap flakes, 1 1/2 tbsp. of pure vegetable glycerin and 1 tsp. of your favorite essential oil to the chamomile tea.

      Mix the ingredients thoroughly, then cool to room temperature.

      Pour the shampoo into a plastic bottle with a top. Shampoo your hair as you normally would.

      Store the shampoo in the refrigerator or a cool, dark place for up to a month.

    Avocado Hair Mask Conditioner

      Peel one avocado and mash it thoroughly to a smooth consistency with a fork in a bowl.

      Pour 1/2 cup of coconut milk into the bowl and mix well. Microwave the mixture for about 45 seconds, then cool to room temperature.

      Add 1/4 cup of olive oil and 1 tsp. of pure honey and mix well.

      Apply the conditioner to wet hair. Cover with a plastic cap and let it remain for about 20 minutes.

      Rinse the conditioner from the hair and shampoo as your normally would.

      Store the hair mask conditioner in a plastic container in the refrigerator for up to a month.

    Body Scrub

      Pour 2 cups of fine golden brown sugar into a large bowl. The sugar should be lump-free.

      Add 6 to 8 tbsp. of pure coconut oil and stir with a fork to mix thoroughly.

      Pour 1 tbsp. of pure vanilla essential oil into the mixture and stir well.

      Apply the mixture to your body to exfoliate and moisturize your skin.

      Store any leftover scrub in a plastic container in a cool, dark place for up to six months.

    Lip Balm

      Melt 2 tbsp. of grated unbleached beeswax and 4 tbsp. of jojoba or castor oil together in the top of a double boiler.

      Remove the mixture from the heat and pour in 2 tsp. of pure honey and 14 drops of your favorite essential oil. Stir thoroughly to keep it smooth.

      Pour the lip balm into a small container or lip balm tube and allow it to sit uncovered for about 20 minutes before applying it to your lips.

      Store the lip balm in the closed container or tube for up to 12 months.
